We celebrated the end of an amazing year for Social Collective and the launch of a new series of events on Sunday the 25th of November 2018 at iconic Bondi Beach venue, Ravesis Hotel. It all started in the Penthouse for a meet and greet with beautiful views of the world famous beach and a perfect start to an afternoon full of cocktails, canapés and quality conversation.
Guests in attendance included some of the movers and shakers of our industry; founding instructor of Barry’s Australia – Monique Craft, Wellness and IBS advocate Christie Swadling, Fitness Ambassador Ben Seymour, Lifestyle influencer Noni Janur and Neighbours Actor Sam Webb (just to name a few!) who we admire for creating a positive impact for their followers as they continue to keep it real on their social channels. Everyone gathered with the same purpose of meeting likeminded people who, instead of competing with each other could connect and conquer by supporting the critical conversation that we were about to begin – watch the full conversation at bottom of this post.
Social Collective specialises in Social Media and the concept of the discussion #InfluencewithImpact came to fruition after director Kaila found herself working so closely with these ‘influential people’ that have a warped perception of the industry.
Confessions from Kaila are – “Since opening up my own agency the truth is, this journey has been super disappointing. Businesses and people that I once aspired to and drew inspiration from turned out to be the complete opposite of how they presented themselves online. I would work with them and really get to know them on the other side of the screen and it made me totally second guess continuing to work in this industry. It was shocking to learn that these influencers actually thought endorsement was more important than empowerment … it made me realise that the majority of these people needed the validation from their followers a lot more than their followers needed valuable and purposeful content from them. It is these people who are putting unrealistic expectations into others minds, especially our younger youth and it is now more important than ever to spread the message of creating impact over impression and purpose over popularity.”
After overwhelming support of our Influence with Impact discussion, guests were each given a gift bag and ushered downstairs to #TheSundaySpritz where Social Collective hosted a community event to raise funds and awareness for Livin Organisation – a global movement breaking the stigma of mental health with their powerful message #ItAintWeakToSpeak. Ticket proceeds + drinks purchased from our bespoke beverage menu were donated to the organisation thanks to event sponsors Bondi Blue Vodka and Beefeater Pink Strawberry infused gin.
We were so stoked to have had International DJ Oli Benz headlining and wife Sasha Benz attend who we previously threw a sold out NYD event with! This power couple are the masterminds behind famous Hamptons venue The Surf Lodge and definitely brought those famous NYC Sunday sesh vibes to Bondi’s very own Ravesis Hotel. In support was local legend Sydney’s hottest DJ Jay Mac who laid down some killer beats and kept the whole party glued to the d-floor!
Supermodels and sporting legends even came to support this movement. Special guests included; rising football star Corey Norman, Sydney Swans player Aliir Mayom, Sharks player James (Chicko) Segeyaro, supermodels Lacey Nelson, Bibi Sharipova and Georgie Perkins. Even our girl crush Yan Yan Chan’s bf and local socialite Nathan Jolliffe came to cut some shapes!
